Arguably, the most effective as well as the most natural remedies for muscle pain and inflammation are homeopathic. Why? Because when used appropriately, they heal the cause. I know of no other system of health care that can do this so swiftly and so effectively, without causing any other problem.
The key lies in using the remedies appropriately. Newbies are unlikely to be able to do this, for at least two reasons: they will be thinking in medical terms, which just doesn’t work with homeopathy: they won’t understand how to dose, what triggers a repeat dose and what doesn’t. It isn’t just about getting the remedy right.
Because homeopathic remedies are freely available, as well as much information about them, people tend to think that they can be used with little or no understanding. This is very far from the truth. True, they are very safe to use and won’t cause you any harm if you get it wrong. But they are unlikely to do you any good unless you know what you are doing.
There are no homeopathic remedies that work across the board for either muscle pain or inflammation. These are medical terms and they are of little use to a homeopath. What matters far more is the cause of the problem.
A common example of muscle pain is from over straining or injury. In fact, over straining is a form of injury. So the homeopathic remedy Arnica, taken internally, may be the most appropriate remedy for that condition, depending on your personal symptoms. The sensation needs to be a form of aching for Arnica to work and heal the condition.
If the sensation is a weakness or a stiffness or some other symptom, then Arnica is unlikely to help or to help for long. These symptoms indicate other, more appropriate homeopathic remedies.
There are also many other examples of muscle pain that are not related to injury, which means that Arnica is unlikely to help in these situations.
So the cause is important to know, if possible. So are your personal symptoms or sensations. So are any modalities than accompany the problem. These may be a worsening or improvement of the symptoms at a particular time of day or night. Or with heat or cold or movement or jarring. Or a hundred and one other variations.
The same goes for inflammation. But you have to know if the inflammation is directly from an acute condition, such as an injury, or if it is a chronic condition. These are treated very differently when using homeopathy.
This makes choosing the most appropriate natural remedies for muscle pain and inflammation much harder than most people realise.
Sometimes, it is more appropriate to treat you as a whole person rather than your local problem. All of you is connected, so what appears to be a local problem, is always a systemic one.
It is far better to find a homeopath who you can work with. They don’t have to be local to you as telephone and internet consultations can work very well.
Once you have worked with someone for some time and have started to understand the intricacies and subtleties of homeopathy, then you are in a position to learn how to use some of the common homeopathic remedies at home. But rarely, not until then, unless you have a teacher on hand.
Your health is your greatest wealth. With it, you can ‘conquer the world’. Without it, you are at the mercy of others. Treat it with the due diligence it deserves. Get professional help rather than seek out natural remedies for muscle pain and inflammation as a DIY-er.
